Living with goodbye [Leven met afscheid]
One of the disadvantages of today’s funeral flowers is that they contain little personality on the part of the consumer. Consumers are also not yet aware of the impact that a bunch of flowers has on our environment.
In ‘Living with farewell’, a design is made of funeral flower arrangements that are sustainable and personal. A new mourning ribbon has also been designed.
The funeral flower arrangement is made together with the bereaved and materials that have meaning for the deceased. For example, flowers from the environment of the deceased can be used, seeds can also be processed that bloom later and provide a lasting memory to the bereaved. The flowers used are free of pesticides and thus contribute to a more sustainable environment.
The renewed mourning ribbon is made of pulp with personal materials. The shape of the mourning ribbon can be in all shapes and sizes. After a funeral, the paper can go into the ground and the last greeting can germinate, through the seeds in the mourning ribbon. The flowers in the mourning ribbon are also a lasting memory because every year around the same time the flowers start blooming again.
By paying attention to these elements, the funeral flower arrangement becomes more personal and contributes to our future. Let’s live with goodbye.
